As we pulled out of the Walmart parking lot in Nashville, NC Wednesday afternoon, I had no idea the caliber of men I was honored to ride with. Over the hours which passed like minutes I listened to Adam Muhtaseb share his heart, vision and personal story. To hear this former Muslim dream about what God will do in Canton, MD through Redemption City Church, is to become infected by his passion for the lost. “Go on mission. . . be a christian on mission right where you are!”
Adam and the core team of 15+ being sent from Imago Dei of North Raleigh, will move as a group to Canton in July. They plan to hit the ground running. The vision – “A community of disciples in awe of Jesus, who are living to take part in His redemption of our city through a movement of the Gospel.” As they get families into the community, Adam and the team will work to build relationships in this affluent, revitalized community of greater Baltimore. The short term vision – to be a church on mission. Long term – to become a church planting movement. Adam is passionate about reaching people for Jesus, “9 of 10 people don’t know the Jesus of the Gospel! They don’t know that He loves them.”
Redemption City will use creative opportunities to connect with the community. They plan, among many other methods, to host seminars led by successful businessmen and medical personnel. They will also reach across the gap to partner with lower income areas near Canton through bedroom makeovers.
Won’t you pray with us for the people of Canton, MD as Adam, Sherrie and their launch team prepare to impact the community of Canton for Jesus?
